WIKING Miro 1+ Side Glass Wood Burning Stove — Three Configurations, One Striking Design
Some stoves warm a room. The WIKING Miro 1+ wood burning stove transforms it. With a distinctive side glass panel that opens the flame view beyond the front face of the stove, it creates a more open, immersive fire picture than a standard front-glass stove can achieve. Built in Denmark by HWAM, it is available in three configurations — pedestal, plinth, and wall mounted — to suit a wide range of rooms and installation types.
WIKING® Autopilot™ — The Next Level of Automatic Combustion
The Miro 1+ uses the WIKING® Autopilot™ combustion system. Unlike a manual stove, Autopilot™ regulates the air supply automatically throughout every burn — so you never need to adjust the controls once the fire is going. Because of this, you get a clean, steady fire from start to finish, with less residue building up in the flue over time.
The system delivers a 4.4kW nominal output and 75% efficiency, earning the stove an A energy efficiency class rating. Furthermore, the Miro 1+ holds DEFRA exemption, so you can burn wood legally in a smoke control area. It is also fully Ecodesign compliant and meets EN 16510 Type CA standards, which means it supports a room-sealed installation drawing fresh air from outside via an optional external air kit.
The Side Glass — A Wider, More Dramatic Flame View
The side glass panel is what sets the Miro 1+ apart from other stoves in the Miro range. Rather than framing the flames in a single front-facing pane, the side glass extends the view around one corner of the firebox. As a result, the flames become visible from a much wider angle — making the stove particularly effective in rooms where it sits slightly proud of the wall or at an angle to the main seating area.
Because of the side glass, clearance requirements on the sides are 50cm — more than a front-glass-only stove. So it is worth confirming your available wall space with your installer before settling on a position. The stove comes in black or grey steel cladding, and the combustion chamber measures 35cm x 32cm.
Three Configurations — Choose the One That Works for Your Room
The pedestal version is the tallest at 110.8cm. It raises the firebox on a slender column, giving the stove a sculptural, elevated quality that works well in open-plan spaces and contemporary rooms where presence and height matter.
The plinth version sits lower at 78.2cm on a solid rectangular base. It feels grounded and clean, and suits flat wall installations and modern interiors where a more restrained profile is the right choice.
The wall mounted version is the most dramatic of the three. At 71.2cm tall, it lifts the stove completely off the floor — keeping the space beneath it clear and creating a striking floating effect. It requires a minimum 30cm floor clearance and accepts a 6″ only flue outlet, so confirm both of these with your installer early in the planning process.
