Underneath a free standing stove, and in front of your stove you need a hearth that has a minimum thickness of 12mm.

In front of the glass of the stove the minimum requirement is to have 300mm of hearth.

Whilst there are a number of different materials that we can use, a selection is shown below, we normally work in either slate or granite.

Some materials might not be suitable to use as surrounds for inset stove
